Hot Meals in Yemen for Only $1.68 Per Meal
In collaboration with Humanity for Relief and Development, Pious Projects will be providing food to the citizens of Sana'a Yemen at Mercy Kitchen.
Mercy Kitchen is a charitable institution that provides approximately 400 plates of food to families in need per day. It is located in Sana’a and neighboring Mercy Bakery, a sister-establishment with similar goals Pious Projects is also privileged to be a part of.
Being aware of the harrowing famine that has engulfed the majority of Yemen, Humanity for Relief and Development sought out to address the issue by creating reliable establishments families could visit daily, free of charge. The plates at Mercy Kitchen consist of fresh and filling rice and veggies and only cost $1.68 to make. A $20 donation has the potential to feed a large family.
More than two million children are malnourished in Yemen. Aid workers say almost half a million of them are suffering from extreme hunger and are in grave risk. On average, one child under the age of five dies of preventable causes every 10 minutes. According to the UN, Yemen is on the brink of the "worst famine in the world in 100 years."
