Bring Relief to Mali After Massacre
On March 23rd, 2019, a violent attack suspected to be carried out by the Dogon group was inflicted on Fulani herdsmen in Mali’s Mopti region. More than 150 villagers’ lives were lost in this massacre, and our team couldn’t be more saddened, as we’ve come to greatly familiarize ourselves over the past four years with the country’s beauty and exceptional people. We want to do everything we can to assist those that are currently displaced.
Alhamdulillah, our supporters responded fast, and we were able to supply food and water to thousands. However, after our on-ground team had the unique opportunity to speak to the villagers and identify their greatest needs, we came up with a more lasting solution.
Pious Projects will be building a village from the ground up. This village will be equipped with basic facilities that make a place a community. InshAllah, it will have a school, mosque, medical center, clean water source, and as many homes as we can raise for (Phase 1: At least 200 houses). Each house is a 2-bedroom mud house with a tin roof.
The necessity for this village cannot be stressed enough. Many suffer from illness and injury and require immediate medical attention. Children need to continue their schooling. Everybody needs a home. The number one urgency constantly brought to our team’s attention was the need for a place to sleep, as sleeping in the hot sun is both a danger and major discomfort to themselves and their children.
We implore our donors to generously donate to the innocent survivors and provide them with a place they can call home once again.
